Terms of Service
This document was last updated on April 18, 2026. Please review with a licensed attorney.
1. About Divorce Portal
Divorce Portal ("we," "us," or "our") provides an AI-powered document preparation platform for divorce cases. Our service helps users draft custody schedules, separation agreements, support calculations, and discovery documents.
Divorce Portal is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. We are a technology company that offers document preparation tools. No attorney-client relationship is created by using our service.
All documents generated through our platform should be reviewed by a licensed attorney before filing with any court. By using Divorce Portal, you acknowledge that our AI-generated content is a starting point, not a finished legal product.
2. Eligibility
To use Divorce Portal, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be a resident of the United States
- Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement
- Provide accurate and complete information during registration
If you are an attorney using Divorce Portal on behalf of clients, you represent that you are licensed to practice law in your jurisdiction.
3. Account Terms
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Do not share your password or allow others to access your account.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. If you suspect unauthorized access, contact us immediately at support@divorce-portal.com.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or engage in fraudulent activity.
4. Pricing, Billing, and Refunds
Divorce Portal offers the following plans, processed securely through Stripe:
- Getting Started — $299 per case (one document type)
- Full Preparation — $499 per case (all document types, calculators, unlimited revisions)
- Attorney — $799/month (unlimited cases, multi-client, multi-state support)
All plans include a 7-day free trial. You will not be charged until the trial period ends. You may cancel at any time during the trial without being charged.
Refund policy: Once document generation has begun (i.e., you have submitted case information and the AI has produced output), no refunds will be issued. If you have not generated any documents, you may request a full refund within 14 days of purchase by contacting support@divorce-portal.com.
For the Attorney monthly plan, you may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle. No partial-month refunds are provided.
5. User Responsibilities
When using Divorce Portal, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and truthful information about your case
- Use the service only for lawful purposes related to divorce document preparation
- Have all generated documents reviewed by a licensed attorney before filing
- Not rely solely on AI-generated documents for legal decisions
- Keep your account credentials secure and not share access with unauthorized individuals
You understand that the accuracy of generated documents depends on the accuracy of the information you provide.
6. Intellectual Property
The Divorce Portal platform, including its software, design, branding, and AI models, is owned by Divorce Portal and protected by intellectual property laws.
Documents you generate using our service belong to you. However, you grant us a limited license to process and store your content as necessary to provide the service.
You may not copy, reverse-engineer, or redistribute any part of the Divorce Portal platform without our written permission.
7. Data Handling
We take your privacy seriously. Case data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Sensitive fields (financial information, personal identifiers) are encrypted using AES-256 encryption.
Your data is retained for 90 days after session completion, after which it is permanently deleted. You may request earlier deletion at any time.
For full details on how we handle your data, please see our Privacy Policy.
8. Prohibited Uses
You may not use Divorce Portal to:
- Generate fraudulent or misleading legal documents
- Harass, threaten, or harm another person
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the service without permission
- Resell or redistribute documents generated through the platform for commercial purposes
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Divorce Portal and its officers, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service.
Our total liability for any claim related to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid to Divorce Portal in the 12 months preceding the claim.
We do not guarantee that documents generated by our AI will be accepted by any court, will be legally sufficient, or will produce any particular legal outcome.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Divorce Portal, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your use of the service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.
11. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of Divorce Portal shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation. If we cannot resolve the dispute informally, it shall be submitted to binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
You agree to resolve disputes on an individual basis and waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.
12. Termination
You may close your account at any time by contacting support@divorce-portal.com. Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our retention policy (90 days after session completion, or immediately upon request).
We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if required by law. We will provide notice when reasonably possible.
13. Modifications to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice on our platform at least 30 days before the changes take effect.
Your continued use of Divorce Portal after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
14. Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any legal proceedings shall be conducted in the state or federal courts located in Virginia.
