Two-Factor Authentication

What is Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account. Instead of just a password, you also need a short code to log in. This means even if someone guesses your password, they still can't get into your account. Since your divorce case data is sensitive and personal, we strongly recommend turning on 2FA to keep it safe.

Option 1: Email OTP

This is the simplest option. You'll get a code sent to your email each time you log in.

  1. 1Go to Settings in your account.
  2. 2Find the Security section.
  3. 3Select Email OTP as your 2FA method.
  4. 4Next time you log in, you'll receive a 6-digit code via email.
  5. 5Enter the code to complete your login.

Option 2: Authenticator App (TOTP)

For stronger security, use an authenticator app like Google Authenticator or Authy. The app generates a new code every 30 seconds.

  1. 1Download Google Authenticator or Authy on your phone (free from the App Store or Google Play).
  2. 2Go to Settings in your Divorce Portal account.
  3. 3Find the Security section and select Authenticator App.
  4. 4Scan the QR code shown on screen with your authenticator app.
  5. 5Enter the 6-digit code from the app to verify the setup.
  6. 6You're all set! Next time you log in, open the app and enter the current code.

Recovery Codes

When you set up 2FA, you'll receive a set of recovery codes. These are one-time-use codes that let you log in if you ever lose access to your phone or email. Store them somewhere safe — like a password manager or a printed copy in a secure place. If you need to use one, just enter it instead of the 6-digit code during login.

Disabling 2FA

If you need to turn off two-factor authentication, here's how.

  1. 1Go to Settings in your account.
  2. 2Find the Security section.
  3. 3Click Disable next to your current 2FA method.
